Do you like cats? Do you like when they meow? Do you like when animals are friends? Do you like cool animation? Do you like adventure stories? Where do babies come from? Which way is up when you’re laying down? Do you like me y/n?
Part 1: Animated Cats and News Reports
I’ll keep this short. Flow is a beautiful movie. From a technical and animation perspective, the movie isn’t just accomplished, it’s stellar. Even as a guy who doesn’t much care for animated stuff, nor do I have an understanding of how difficult it can be to create, I knew that Flow was an absolute achievement.

Yes, the cat is the protagonist. But the storytelling was absolutely standout. By the time you hit the third act, you’ve assigned personalities and characteristics and desires and values to every one of the characters. Some are protective, some are neurotic, some are isolated.
It’s just so incredible when filmmakers can make a movie without dialogue and manage to convey so much emotion and depth. The existence of movies like Flow invalidate any movie that needs to rely on shit like a news anchor delivering well-timed breaking news in the background of two actors expositing their plan. Next time you see a movie that begins with a variation of the words, “They say the war was terrible” or somesuch, fucking shut it off. Your brain, the movie, the life support. Whatever it is, it is time to move on.
Part 2: Conclusion
The cat was cute. Kind of a dick but ultimately figures shit out. Go watch Flow to see what I mean. It’s worth it.

Also, I need someone to explain the ending for me. Like, I think I get it on a surface level, but I don’t know if I truly understand… like… why the movie ended at the spot it did. I didn’t need some big explanation or revelation- sometimes the supernatural is just supernatural. Fuckit. But I think metaphorically, or at least, in terms of what internal turmoil the cat came to terms to. Explain. In the comments.
