“Murder Manual” is a manual on murdering the audience’s brain cells

So Emilia Clarke, right? She’s on the poster. She’s in the first 10 minutes of the movie. If you Google “Murder Manual” she’s first billed. There’s no wikipedia page. No reddit discussion. Barely anything on the IMDb, but who really reads that shit, right? Let’s hit play.

I’m a fan of horror of all types, and I’ve recently come to enjoy the episodic anthology films that can be found on any and all free streaming sites, like Tubi or Pluto or FuboTV, and sometimes they’re pretty good. I really liked the V/H/S movies, and am very open to trying others out, especially if I know what I’m getting into.

This is your warning. “Murder Manual” is an anthology horror film that only has Emilia Clarke in the first 10 minutes and on the poster. And her short is actually the worst shit I’ve ever seen because it’s just a series of close up nonsense that has little logic or reason involved. It’s a just film student’s poor attempt at depth and creepiness and metaphor without establishment.

The next few shorts continue similarly, with very little cinematic value and very poor narrative sense. The horror is… a bright spot. The films have spots of inspiration in their creepiness, but it’s often few and far in between each individual movie. It’s certainly creepy, but it’s not consistent. There are a few standouts, such as the story of the gay couple, or a few moments from the second story, the one with the stalker.

I would not recommend this anthology, as the quality is quite poor. Even the opening sequence was just amateur and confusing.

YMMV

I watched “Murder Manual” on Tubi.

Wondering how my rating system works? Let me explain!
